| The Total Physical Response(TPR)method studied in this article was proposed by American educational psychologist James J.Asher in the early 1960 s.Advocating the combination of language and movement,and teaching the second language in a way of speaking while doing.It is recommended to follow the laws of children’s psychological development and stimulate children’s interest in learning through singing,activities,body language display,etc.,to enhance learning attention and teaching effects.Since the 20 th century,the Total Physical Response method has also received the attention of many scholars and teachers in our country.The research results in children’s English are quite fruitful,and there are also certain achievements in the study of Chinese as a foreign language.However,the research on basic Chinese teaching in Mauritius is few.Therefore,the author takes the primary school I teach in Mauritius as an example to propose a research topic: apply the Total Physical Response method to basic Chinese teaching at La Confiance Primary School and analyze and reflect on the Total Physical Response method in basic Chinese teaching for children in Mauritius according to different learning themes.The positive meaning of the Chinese language,whether adopting the Total Physical Response method is more helpful for Mauritian children in Chinese learning,and whether it can achieve a better teaching effect than other traditional teaching methods.By conducting a questionnaire survey of Chinese teachers in Mauritius,sorting out the interviews with local teachers,showing some class cases,and conducting classroom observations on the teaching class,the experimental subjects for data demonstration were obtained.This article is divided into six parts,the specific content is as follows:The first part of the introduction: starting from the background of the topic,clarify the research object and research scope.It sorts out and elaborates the research status of research topics in different fields and introduces the main research methods used in this thesis.The second part: introduces the related theories of the Total Physical Response method,mainly from the three aspects of linguistic theory,psychological theory,and affective factors,and summarizes the teaching principles and teaching steps.The third part: through the description of the current situation of Chinese teaching in Mauritius primary schools and the actual situation of the school where the author teaches,a questionnaire survey of in-service teachers,interviews with local teachers to try to explain the feasibility and necessity of the Total Physical Response method in basic Chinese classes in Mauritius.The fourth part: Select typical teaching cases analysis,collect classroom observation and test data,show the author’s teaching results of the actual use of this teaching method in the class of Mauritius primary school.The fifth Part: Summarize the advantages and disadvantages of using the Total Physical Response method,put forward teaching evaluation and teaching reflections and suggestions,and provide some reference for volunteer teaching in Mauritius primary school in the future.The sixth part is the conclusion: sort out and summarize the research results of this article,and point out the shortcomings of this thesis. |
