Mathematics curriculum reform emphasizes the development of students' ability to apply mathematics.As a bridge between mathematics and the outside world,mathematical application problem is the most direct and effective tool to cultivate the students' application ability.In recent years,it has been paid more and more attention in the teaching of mathematics.Function application problem refers to the mathematical problem that takes real life as the background and presents the plot content in forms of words,symbols and graphs,and needs to be solved by using the relevant function knowledge.It is the most important type of mathematical application problems in high school stage.The process of solving the function application problem is the process of "practical problem – mathematical model – solve mathematical problem – solve practical problem".But completing this process needs the cooperation of many aspects of knowledge and ability,so that students often have difficulties in solving function application problems.Therefore,analyzing students' problem-solving obstacles of function application problems and putting forward the corresponding teaching strategies are the main contents of this paper.Based on referencing a large number of related books and paper materials,the author had compiled the questionnaire and test of the research.The object of this study is Q high school's senior one students.This paper investigated the learning situation of function application problems through questionnaires,and tried to find the specific difficulties existed in solving function application problems through test.Through analyzing the results of the questionnaire and the test,the author found that the main obstacles for students to solve function application problems are as follows:1.Affective obstacle– Students lack interest in learning function application problems and fear this kind of problem.2.Reading comprehension obstacle– Students lack background knowledge,difficult to identify effective conditions and transform semantics,causing them difficult to understand the question,or students didn't read the questions carefully causing mistakes.3.Establishing function model obstacle– Students difficult to establish a correct function model because of neglecting the starting function of the visual representation and the poor thinking tightness.4.The obstacle caused by students' weak function knowledge base – Students are easy to ignore the domain of functions,have a weak grasp of the nature of functions,lack mathematics thoughts and methods,influencing them solve problems.In view of the obstacles that existed in solving function application problems,the author puts forward some teaching strategies: paying attention to creating the situation of function application problems,attaching importance to cultivating students' mathematical reading ability,teaching students to analyze numerical relationships,strengthening the teaching of function basic knowledge.
