On February 8,2017,Gou Zhongwen,Director-General of the State Administration of Sports of China, met with IOC President Bach in Lausanne, and made clear that equestrian is one of the 10 key development projects in China in the next few years. On January 26,2019,Zhang Xiaoning, chairman of the Chinese Equestrian Association,on behalf of the Chinese Equestrian Association, established that the Chinese Equestrian Team should prepare for the Tokyo Olympic Games as the main direction and goal of the future development of the Chinese Equestrian Association. In view of the good situation of the future development of competitive equestrian sports, this paper makes a systematic study of Chinese competitive equestrian sports by using the methods of literature, comparative analysis and expert scoring.Firstly, through data analysis and comparison, this paper seeks for the gaps and deficiencies between China and the powerful equestrian countries in the overall level of competitive equestrian sports, the level and quantity of athletes, the training mode of reserve talents, the variety and quantity of horses and the coaching ability of coaches.Secondly, from the four aspects of policy, economy, culture and natural resources, this paper analyses and discusses the factors affecting the development of China's competitive equestrian sport.Through comparison, the main problems existing in the development of China's competitive equestrian sport are as follows: 1.insufficient reserve of competitive equestrian athletes and reserve talents;2.low level of coaching of competitive equestrian coaches;3.competitive equestrian sport;Sports-related infrastructure is backward;4.The cultural atmosphere of equestrian sports is low;5.The number of equestrian clubs is small and the scale is small;6.The types of equestrian events are single and the level is low.Based on the above research, the following conclusions are drawn:1.Most of China's competitive equestrian teams employ foreign coaches, but at present they will also send some excellent equestrian athletes to foreign countries for training. They are in line with the developed western equestrian countries in technology and adhere to the principle of "go out, please come in".These excellent equestrian athletes have achieved excellent results in various equestrian competitions in China.2.At present,China has only set up the professional direction of equestrianmanagement at the postgraduate stage in some colleges and universities, but it lacks the specialty of sports pedagogy and sports training aiming at training high-quality talents.3.Although the historical origin of horse sport in ethnic minorities in China has been recorded for a long time, the use of horses in modern times is more reflected in entertainment, production, farming and transportation. The development of competitive horse sport in China is relatively slow.4.Although there are a certain number of equestrian clubs in China at present, most of them have not formed a scale. It is very difficult for them to improve the level of competitive equestrian sports, and because of their own problems, most clubs are also difficult to obtain government funding, investment and policy support.5.In recent years,China has held many equestrian competitions of different scales every year, but mainly concentrated in low-level competitions such as one-star and two-star competitions. At the same time, the lack of sponsorship and the low amount of prize pools have reduced the enthusiasm of the news media to report the events, which has resulted in the inability to attract the participation of high-level athletes in domestic competitions.According to the above research conclusions, the following suggestions are put forward: 1.Establishing and improving the training system of competitive equestrian talents;2.Strengthening the construction of related infrastructure of competitive equestrian sports;3.Establishing national confidence of equestrian culture in China;4.Establishing more and larger equestrian clubs;5.Developing various types and higher level equestrian events.
