With the rapid development of information technology,the current society has entered the era of visual culture.Visual reading has become a significant approach for people to recognize and obtain information,and visual thinking ability has become a vital quality.The compulsory education mathematics curriculum standard emphasizes that to develop students' geometry intuition ability.It requires students to visualize the problems under study,and to analyze and solve the problems with the help of graphics."Graphics" and "shape" are not only the basic contents of mathematics learning in primary schools,but also an auxiliary means to improve primary school students' understanding.Therefore,the application of visual thinking in mathematics teaching of primary school is not only conducive to the learning and development of primary school students,but also the task of deep implementation of mathematics curriculum standards.The study is based on Gestalt psychology and Constructivism Theory.It mainly adopts case study method,starting from the three dimensions of visual thinking:watching,imagining and drawing,taking the "fraction multiplying fraction" in the first volume of sixth grade of primary school mathematics as an example to discuss the application of visual thinking in primary school mathematics teaching.First of all,based on the characteristics of primary school students and primary school mathematics,the paper draws the process of visual thinking in primary school mathematics learning.And the visual image in primary school mathematics is divided into mathematical graphic image,mathematical model image and mathematical symbolic image.Based on visual image,the paper puts forward the application of visual thinking in primary school mathematics teaching from three dimensions:watching,imagining and drawing.Secondly,in order to conduct the application research in a targeted manner,the learner analysis is carried out before teaching "fraction multiplying fraction" to find out the students' knowledge foundation and the psychological characteristic,then analyzing the teaching content from the curriculum standards and textbook.Then,based on the analysis of students and teaching contents,this paper puts forward that visual thinking should be applied to the teaching of "fraction multiplying fraction" from three levels:action representation,image representation and symbol representation.Next,on the basis of the teaching design,the application of visual thinking in the teaching of "fraction multiplying fraction" is carried out in the research class,the application effect of the visual thinking in the teaching is analyzed,and the teaching reflection is carried out.The results show that the application of visual thinking in "fraction multiplying fraction"effectively improves the students' understanding of arithmetic,improves the computing accuracy,and helps to stimulate the students' creativity.Finally,on further reflection,the paper puts forward the suggestion of applying visual thinking in primary school mathematics teaching:developing the mathematical visual image of primary school students in the whole process,cultivating visual thinking ability of primary school students based on visual image,overcoming the negative stereotype of primary school students' visual thinking.
