This research compared the academic performances and social developments between Jiangsu and Lhasa Tibetan students. The purpose of this study is to inspect whether the Tibetan students in Jiangsu province study better and grow more mature than those who live in Lhasa,Tibet.108 students from Nantong Tibetan Middle School and 219 students from Lhasa Jiangsu Experimental Middle School were recruited to participate in the present study.Academic performance survey is based on the final papers of Chinese,Mathematics and English in the first semester of Lhasa from 2017 to 2018.This test score is used as an indicator to measure students' academic performance. On the condition of the same difficulty,we can investigate the difference of students' academic level between Jiangsu and Lhasa Tibetan students..At the same time, the students do the "Life Behavior Questionnaire" test. The results show that there is a great difference in academic performance between Jiangsu and Lhasa Tibetan students. The results of students in Jiangsu are obviously better than those in Tibet. In terms of social development, there is no significant difference in three psychological indicators:social adaptability, achievement motivation and self-esteem.Therefore,Education in Jiangsu is neither advanced nor backward. In addition, the social adaptability level of both students is generally low.the average score of social adaptation ability of Nantong students is higher than that of Lhasa students, and the difference between them is marginal significant;Tibetan students in both places have strong achievement motivation;Tibetan students in both places have medium self-esteem.the difference of self-esteem between male and female students in Nantong reached a marginal significant level. Conclusions:The first, the teaching in Nantong is successful,as far as the current average score is concerned,it also means that Tibetan students in both places have a lot of room for improvement.Second,The social adaptability of Tibetan students is low.The social adaptability of Tibetan students in Nantong is higher than that of Tibetan students in Lhasa, which indirectly reflects that school education can play a certain role in improving students' social development level.Third,Tibetan students in both places have strong motivation for achievement and hope to change their future destiny through their own efforts.Fourth,The low academic performance of Tibetan students in both places can easily lead to their inferiority complex and negative evaluation of themselves, which has a negative impact on the overall development of Tibetan students' self-esteem.
