| What are the types of 0-3-year-old mother’s motivational evaluation behaviors ?How do they occur? What is the reason behind it? This study uses case study method of qualitative research to conduct in-depth and comprehensive research through participatory observation and semi-structured in-depth interviews.Video analysis is used to verify and enrich the constructed theory in the end of the research.Introduction to the study :The purpose of this study is to explore the types and processes of 0-3-year-old mothers’ motivational evaluation behaviors. The subjects of study are four mothers and two kindergarten teachers. The research method is the case study method of qualitative research.Specific data were collected through participatory observation,semi-structured in-depth interviews and video analysis.Sampling used purposeful sampling in non-probabilistic sampling.Typical sampling was used to select mother A,maximum difference sampling was used to select the other three mothers of BCD,and two teachers of EF were selected according to benchmark sampling and external sampling. The specific research process was to conduct a case study upon Mother A.Through participatory observation and unstructured in-depth interviews, the core conceptual storylines were finally summed up and the two models were constructed. Then, the findings of the study were enriched and verified by unstructured in-depth interviews with three other mothers. Finally, through the analysis of the two teachers’ videos, the pyramid modle was further enriched and verified. The study found that:1.Mothers of children aged 0-3 have 58 types of motivational evaluation behaviors, which are worshipping, facilitating and disseminating.Their behavior occurs in four modes: worshipping-facilitating-disseminating,worshipping-disseminating,worshipping-facilitating and worshipping. The ideal motivational evaluation behavior starts with the worshipping behavior(the starting point),taking the facilitating as the second step(the key point).Disseminating is the third step(the end point). It can be illustrated by the three-layer Pyramid Model that from bottom to top are foundation layer, developing layer and disseminating layer respectively, and each level is dominated by a role(in turn,worshiper,facilitator,disseminator).2.For 0-3-year-olds,the motivational evaluation behavior they receive from their mother and the influence from significant others constitute a generalized motivational evaluation-the continuum of motivational evaluation,in which the direct professors of significant others(such as mother)and significant others(such as mother or brother)demonstrations constitute the preparatory stage of the pre-motivational evaluation from mother.Mother’s motivational evaluation behavior is the narrow sense of motivational evaluation behavior, the second motivational evaluation behavior and multiple motivational evaluation behavior upon 0-3-year-old are caused by the narrow sense of motivational evaluation behavior(such as father and peer)constitute the post-motivational evaluation behavior. This continuum is like a diamond. The crown part of the diamond is the pre-motivational evaluation, the pavilion part of the diamond is the inverted pyramid-narrow motivational evaluation, and the rays of light reflected after being exposed to light is the post-motivational evaluation.Every generalized motivational evaluation by mother-oriented significant others is like a small diamond, such diamonds cover and shine the growth path of children aged 0-3,and when children become adults, the dimaonds are treasure waiting to be excavated.3.Mother of 0-3-year-old applies motivational evaluation behaviors because of the expectation of "the New Man’s becoming in improved version".The New Man of improved version eventually grows up under the joint action of the generalized motivational evaluation behaviors centered on the mother’s motivational evaluation, the New Man’s own efforts(cognition and behavior),and the environment(including incidents). This study enriches the motivational evaluation theory, and has a certain practical guiding significance for mothers of 0-3-year-olds in similar situations to guide their children. |
