Self-concept is the individual’s self-cognition and experience gradually formed and developed in the process of socialization.Positive self-concept is the premise and foundation of individual mental health,and plays an important role in guiding consistent behavior,explaining the experience system,performing attribution of success or failure,and shaping healthy personality.By analyzing the status quo of self-concept development of schools of different natures,different grades,whether only children or not,and students of different genders,and proposing targeted positive development strategies,it is of great significance to the management of middle school students and the development of their mental health.In order to understand the development status of the self-concept of junior high school students in Qingdao,the author selected the students of four junior high schools in Qingdao as the research object,using questionnaire survey and interview method to investigate the teachers and students of the four middle schools,and reached the following conclusions.1.In terms of school nature,the overall self-concept development level of junior high school students in private schools in Qingdao is significantly higher than that of public school students.There are significant differences in factors such as personal,family,and social self,etc.2.In different grades,the overall self-concept development level of junior first grade students is significantly higher than that of junior third grade students.There are significant differences in personal self and self-identity factors.3.In terms of whether there is only one child,the overall self-concept development level of the non-only child is significantly higher than that of the only child.There are significant differences in factors such as moral self,personal self,and self-criticism.4.In terms of different genders,there is no significant difference in self-concept between boys and girls.Based on the research results,the author puts forward suggestions for the development of the self-concept of junior high school students in Qingdao:1.combine the theory of multiple intelligences with the practice of teaching management in daily teaching management2.according to the specific differences of students,targeted management measures for different groups.3.the combination of mandatory management and humanistic management,the establishment of mental health education management system,pay attention to humanistic care.
