Start-Up-Weakness,for example,insufficient of scale,resources,experience,ability and social relations,is a widely existing phenomenon in new ventures,which makes it a challenge for new ventures to gain a competitive edge.As a result,these companies are inclined to choose centralized strategies,investing their limited resources to a certain advantageous area.The managers and some of academic studies believe that centralized strategies help new ventures succeed.The logic mentioned above relies on Resource-based view.However,enterprises in competition can acquire resources not only from inside,but also outside.And strategic repertoire variety is an alternative to get external resources.There are few researches on the influencing mechanism of strategic choices on new ventures performance in competition process.Focusing on the problem,this paper studies the influence strategic actions have on performance of new ventures.Through a lot of literature review and theoretical analysis,this paper propose the model and hypothesis from Organizational Learning Theory perspective,together with Resource-based view,etc.With the 165 valid data from questionnaire survey on new venture in Jiangsu Province,the paper empirically examine the hypothesis.The results suggest(1)positive correlation between strategic repertoire variety and new ventures performance,which means promoting effect of the former on the latter;(2)market dynamic weakening the influence strategic repertoire variety has on new ventures performance;(3)enterprise decision-making preference strengthening the influence strategic repertoire variety has on new ventures performance;(4)level of internal communication not contributing significantly to the influence strategic repertoire variety has on new ventures performance.And then,this paper investigate the functional mechanism of strategic repertoire variety on new ventures performance,suggesting that the choice of strategic repertoire variety of new enterprises can promote the improvement of performance?New ventures recognize the internal and external environment and then makes strategic action choices,this article provides theoretical and practical guidance for this process.
