With the development of the globalization, there sprung up many giant cities areas which gathered in big cities, small cities and small towns.Capital, population, technology sharply surged in different directions in these areas.City-regions are no longer shaped in the traditional geography division but shaped into different spatial structures by different function relations. These elements' flowing makes the areas to be more closely.Space of Places has increasingly become the Space of flows,at the same time under the rebuilding of flows,city-regions formed a new context and framework. In consis with the development pace of the world, such changes are happening in our land, and in the urban agglomeration. The same with China's economic development pattern, urban agglomeration development in China also presents the a ladder-like difference from the east to the west.Since the spatial structure of urban agglomerations is essentially the reflection of their economic development structure,we choose urban agglomerations which in different development stages as the research objects to better understand the spatial structure of urban agglomerations. We select chengdu-chongqing urban agglomeration and urban agglomeration in,the middle reach of Yangtze river, the Yangtze river delta urban agglomeration as the research objects, which are distributed in the Yangtze river economic belt from east to west and they are at different stages of development. In this way,we can find the development logic of urban agglomeration spatial structure. At the same time, the three urban agglomeration along the Yangtze river economy belt are in critical period of industry undertaking and transfering,Studying the spatial structure helps us to provide some useful suggestions for its balanced development. In this thesis,we combined the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, dynamic analysis and static analysis as our research methods. We use gravity model, social network analysis, visualization of GIS space analysis, functional polycentric empirical analysis and fractal theory to do the empirical research. On one hand,we use static data of GDP and population to show the annual changes of urban agglomeration spatial structure along the Yangtze river economic belt in the fourteenth year period,On the other hand,we use the dynamic traff-ic flow data to study the internal space structure of these three urban agglomerations. In the end we use the comparative study under the fractal theory to see differences between its'geography and economic spatial structure. This article is divided into five parts,The first part mainly elaborated the background and significance of this research, and analysis of the purpose and specific problems of this study.Besides we make a relevant research literature review at home and abroad in this part. The second part expounds the related theory and relevant research literature review at home and abroad. In the third part,we use gravity model to picture the basic information. In the fourth part,we made a comb about urban agglomerations spatial structure along the Yangtze river economic belt from perspectives of the function relation and multicenter and fractal theory. The fifth part is the conclusions and suggestions,we summarize the different characteristics of spatial structure of the three urban agglomerations and in accordance with this conclusions,we put forward policy suggestions for its future space structure optimization and integration of economic equilibrium development.
