With the increasing attention on logistics efficiency and cost,Vendor Management Inventory(VMI)is acknowledged as a major tool to minimize inventory risk and cost pressure,reducing waste in logistics and information flow which caused by uncertainty,and enhancing the efficiency of enterprise inventory management.Among all the inventory management strategies,outsourcing VMI to a 3PL company attracts extensive attention from enterprises.Many multinational and domestic well-known manufacturers are outsourcing VMI to 3PL companies,to optimize inventory turnover,enhance quick response ability,overall optimize supply chain,final to reduce inventory cost and improve their corporate value.The author takes S company VMI warehouse as research object,which is located at Xiamen Free Trade Zone and Bonded Logistics Park.It is a typical logistics distribution center,equipped with modernized facilities and managed by professional logistics team.Combined with practical examples in physical work,the author comprehensively analyzes warehouse fixed facilities,receiving and dispatching operation procedure and relative operating system,explores the problems existing in warehouse management,such as non-standardized procedure in receiving and dispatching,low shelves utilization rate,unreasonable personnel management,vulnerability of information system and etc.These problems directly caused low efficiency of warehouse overall operation,increasing complaints from customer and high operating costs.Based on 3rd-party logistics and VMI theories,applying warehouse lean management theories and process management theories,this article implements a series of improvement measures,such as improve project human resources management,optimize warehouse layout and goods’packing,optimize warehouse receiving and dispatching process,enhance information and operating stability of company system,so as to achieve optimization of warehouse overall operation,improve warehouse working efficiency,create economic benefits for S company and at the meantime also plays an active reference role in other VMI project optimization of S company.
