The division of labor in global value chains has continuously lowered the "threshold" of backward economies embedded in the global value chain, and provided opportunities for the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries to embed the global green value chain in their own comparative advantages to promote economic and social development in the region. At present, the manufacturing sector in the Greater Mekong Sub-region has witnessed a rapid increase in attracting foreign investment and a strong growth in the import and export of parts and components. This shows that the region has started to embed itself into the global value chain based on its own comparative advantage in the context of the value chain division of labor. In the meantime,in the process of division of labor in GMEs,the manufacturing industries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region are often engaged in low value-added links such as simple assembly and production in the value chain, under the guidance of multinational corporations.R & D,design and marketing, etc. The core link is often in the hands of leading enterprises, manufacturing industries in the region are difficult to climb to the high end of the value chain and face the risk of "low-end lock-up" by multinational corporations. Therefore, how to get rid of the "low-end lock" and realize the upgrading of the manufacturing industry in the region is a real problem facing the development of the region.Manufacturing enterprises are the micro-components of the manufacturing industry. The upgrading of the manufacturing industry is a process from small to large and from weak to strong in terms of the micro-level.From a macro perspective, the manufacturing industry shows the competitiveness of a country's manufacturing industry The enhancement of manufacturing industry structure upgrade.Based on the above background, this paper takes the manufacturing enterprises in the Greater Mekong Sub-region as the research object. On the basis of macroscopic data analysis and ABM modeling and simulation of the evolution characteristics of the manufacturing enterprises embedded in the global value chains in the region and the related theories of manufacturing enterprises upgrading,Put forward the upgrading path of the manufacturing enterprises in this area, and carried on the case analysis with the field research enterprises. The study found:First, the manufacturing industry in the region is low but has great potential for development.Second, the results of ABM simulation show that the manufacturing enterprises in the region are becoming more and more closely connected with each other, and there is no apparent agglomeration. The related costs among manufacturing enterprises are on an upward trend.Thirdly, the backward economies have shown the reverse "A-U" mode in the process of industrial development.Manufacturing enterprises in this region should lay emphasis on choosing a process upgrade to gradually upgrade to a product upgrading stage and achieve a higher level upgrade. At the same time, the upgrading of manufacturing enterprises requires that the manufacturing enterprises themselves need a good external environment for their own efforts. On the one hand, enterprises should start from two aspects of technology and management, enhance their capabilities in R & D,design and management, and select corresponding paths to upgrade themselves;on the other hand, the government should take the initiative to provide a good environment for enterprise development,Encourage innovation. In view of the characteristics of ABM modeling and evolution, the government should actively play its own role, promote the aggregation of elements in the region, realize industrial agglomeration and reduce the cost of connecting enterprises.
