Impact Of Knowledge Spillover On Regional Club Convergence In China

The two major characteristics of China's economic development are rapid economic growth and the large gap of regional economy.The growth and gap of regional economy has always been a hot topic in economic theory and empirical research.Although the moderate economic gap between the regions is conducive to the development of the backward regional economy,the excessive widening of the gap will also bring some unfavorable problems,except that it will slow down the overall economic development,the inter-regional economic gap will also reduce the efficiency of factor distribution,widen the gap in labor income,and lower the overall welfare level of society,which is not conducive to the construction of a fair society.In many literatures,research on the effects of knowledge spillovers and club convergence provides policy makers with a solution to effectively promote the coordinated development of regional economies.As the saying " If you live with a lame person you will learn to limp",to some extent reflects the crowd effect of knowledge spillover,the author of this article to gain inspiration,the East-West phenomenon in China's regional economy,whether there is a large area of knowledge spillover effect.In order to explore the role and influence of knowledge spillover in the process of economic growth and convergence in the three major regions of China,this paper sorts out the provinces of China from 1991 to 2015 from the yearbooks and forward-looking databases such as China Statistical Yearbook 1992-2016.Inter-data,all indicator variables are processed,for example,in order to eliminate the impact of price,this paper intends to use the 1991 data as the base period to calculate the actual per capita GDP from 1992 to 2015;in addition,in China's statistical yearbook,science The statistical method of research and experimental development of internal expenditure funds is the annual flow,but the creation of technical knowledge is not produced immediately after rapid investment.This is a process that takes time and innovates in the past accumulation,so for China The treatment of inter-provincial knowledge stock The method used in this paper is the perpetual inventory method.Finally,from the perspective of knowledge spillover,this paper combs and integrates the literature on knowledge spillover and club convergence,tries to find the theoretical basis and mechanism of the two,and then expands based on the Cobb-Douglas knowledge production function model.The third part elaborates the spatial autocorrelation of economic growth in China's provinces and regions,using the absolute gap in the mean of economic aggregates,spatial statistical software GeoDa and Arcgis,and Theil index to statistics on regional knowledge stocks and regional economic club convergence in China.Study and try to do some simple analytical work.In the fourth part,the general dynamic panel is estimated by the generalized distance method(GMM),and the inter-provincial panel data is estimated by the fixed effect model of the spatial Dubin model(SDM)with the spatial weight matrix,and the results of the two regressions are performed.Comparative analysis,the results of the comparison found that in the economic development process of the three major regions of China,within the eastern region and the central region,the knowledge spillover between the provinces has positively promoted the club convergence in the region,in contrast.In the western part of China,there is a divergent feature.For further research,this paper also conducts the same inter-regional club convergence test for the eastern and central regions with significant convergence.The estimation results show the economy between the two regions.The level of development presents a divergent character.In this way,from a national perspective,there is a clear “club phenomenon” in the level of inter-regional economic development in China.Among them,the knowledge spillover effect has a positive effect on the phenomenon of regional economic clubs in China,and accordingly proposes corresponding policy recommendations.
