Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)refers to the combination of a series of strategies and operational activities formulated and implemented by enterprises, which aims to create and maintain the relationships with stakeholders as well as the natural environment. It reflects the Stakeholder Orientation of enterprises. As the concept of CSR develops and becomes more popular, the research of this field deepens, and more and more study achievements have confirmed that CSR plays a positive role in market and financial performance. But the innovation performance, though considered being another important index of enterprise performance, has not received enough attention yet. So,we conducted an empirical study taking the perspective of Stakeholder Theory,Resource-based View as well as Social Capital Theory to analyze the relationship between CSR behaviors and the performance of new product development.Based on this,we stepped further, gave a try to explore the mediation roles of internal capabilities and external network qualities.Besides,we also studied the moderation roles of dysfunctional competition and firm age,in order to provide some practical guidance. With the investigation of 219 companies,we draw the following conclusions:(1)CSR behaviors play a positive role in new product development performance;(2)CSR behaviors have positive impacts both on internal capabilities as well as external network qualities;(3)Both internal capabilities and external network qualities can promote the performance of new product development;(4)The internal capabilities and external network qualities both have a partial mediation effect on the relationship between CSR behaviors and new product development performance;(5)Dysfunctional competition plays a positive moderation role on the relationship between CSR behaviors and internal capabilities, and so it does on the relationship between CSR behaviors and external network qualities;(6)Firm age negatively moderates the relationship between CSR behaviors and internal capabilities;however, the positive moderation role that firm age plays between CSR behaviors and external network qualities is not significant. This paper has both theoretical and practical significant. On the one hand it enriches the contents of related study fields;on the other hand it also gives some practical guidance for companies. So this research does have values and something new.
