Corporate social responsibility is essentially concept whereby companies to contribute to a better society and a cleaner environment. Most definitions of corporate social responsibility describe it as a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and in their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis. In summary, the total CSR of business entails the simultaneous fulfillment of the firm's economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities. Stated in more pragmatic and managerial terms, the corporate social responsibility firm should strive to make a profit, obey the law, be ethical, and be a good corporate citizen. To measure CSR we can use a dummy variable, or KLD qualitative measures of social performance, or the indicator of public CSR. To decide on the parameters and legitimacy of CSR for a publicly held enterprise, we need distinctions between three different types of CSR a business can practice; ethical, altruistic, and strategic CSR.The importance of CSR includes in the positive relationship between corporate social responsibility and economic, financial, and firm performances. However Global governance and the interrelation between trade, investment and sustainable development are key issues in the corporate social responsibility debate.Recently not only developed countries but also the developing countries are looking to the development and use of corporate social responsibility, especially in Arab countries through many of Arab congresses that call for mainstreaming the concept of social responsibility in the Arab world and highlights the importance of an index of Arabic social responsibility, targeted by the different Arab countries as it seeks to activate this concept is important and effective in achieving sustainable development. And it should search for the reasons that hinder the spread of the concept of corporate social responsibility among countries; in order to develop plans and support corporate social responsibility globally.
