Study On The Difference Of Tourism Competitiveness Of The Yangtze River Economic Belt Based On Time Series Global Principal Component Analysis

With the continuous development of the tourism industry,the role of the tourism industry in stimulating local economic development,activating the vitality of the industrial chain,and enhancing the regional image has become more prominent.Research on regional tourism competitiveness is necessary.Under the current political system in China,administrative management,data statistics,planning and leading development are carried out on a provincial basis.Therefore,the regional competition mainly manifests as industrial competition among provinces.The Yangtze River Economic Belt is a strategic decision made by the party and the state in the new era.As a new strategic development space,The Yangtze River Economic Belt is responsible for the coordinated development of the interaction and cooperation between the East,the Central and the West.Facing the new development situation,we will study the development differences of the tourism industry competitiveness of the Yangtze River Economic Belt,focus on regional tourism cooperation and competition development,and promote the sustainable development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt as a whole and the tourism of various provinces and cities.This paper takes 11 provinces and cities in the Outline of the Development Plan of the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the research object.Firstly,the foreign and domestic literature on regional tourism competitiveness was systematically sorted out,including the theory of comparative advantage,the theory of competitive advantage,the theory of tourism system,and Tourism sustainable development theory.Based on the existing literature,a tourism competitiveness index system was developed.The index system is divided into three parts: tourism market competitiveness,tourism factor competitiveness,and tourism environmental competitiveness.It involves 36 specific indicators and data sources are selected.Data was collected from official sources such as the government's statistical bulletin on national economic and social development and the China Tourism Statistics Yearbook.As a result,the accuracy and uniformity of the data was ensured.Firstly,the time series global principal component analysis method is used to analyze the tourism competitiveness of the 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2007 to 2016.Then,the cluster analysis method is used to classify the tourism competitiveness,according to the competitiveness scores of the past decades the provinces with strong tourism competitiveness,medium-sized tourism competitiveness,and weak tourism competitiveness are divided.Finally,based on the competitiveness score,the Theil is used to analyze the overall difference,interzone difference and intra-area difference of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2007 to 2016.Through research,it is concluded that: Firstly,the scores of tourism competitiveness of the 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt are rising continuously,indicating that the tourism competitiveness of various provinces and cities is increasing;According to the proposed principal component factor,the subsport tourism competitiveness of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is analyzed.;Secondly,according to the results of cluster analysis,Jiangsu Province,Shanghai,and Zhejiang Province are among the most competitive tourism-oriented provinces.Sichuan Province,Hubei Province,Anhui Province,Chongqing City,and Hunan Province are among the middle-class provinces with competitive tourism competitiveness.Yunnan Province,Jiangxi Province,and Guizhou Province are among the weakest provinces with competitive tourism competitiveness.The Theil indicates that the difference in tourism competitiveness of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has been shrinking year by year;the difference in tourism competitiveness between regions is the main factor affecting the overall difference.Finally,corresponding countermeasures for improving tourism competitiveness was proposed for each province,city or region.
