Since the beginning of the 21 st century, the process of global integration has been almost stagnant, and the Doha negotiations under the WTO framework have been slow, prompting the development of regional integration and free trade zones among many countries.Nowadays, both developed and developing countries regard bilateral trade negotiations as the focus of promoting trade. The wave of establishing a free trade zone in the world is developing rapidly, and all countries are grasping opportunities.China has also followed the international trend, raised the establishment of a free trade zone to a national strategic level, and signed a free trade agreement with many countries. However,China lacks relevant experience and has shortcomings in breadth and depth. Therefore,New Zealand,as the first developed country to establish a free trade zone with China,is an important practice in China's free trade zone strategy and has deep research significance. In this context, this paper reviews the China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, which has been implemented for many years, and studies the trade data of the two countries from 1999 to 2017 to explore the trade creation effect and trade transfer effect of China-New Zealand after signing the free trade zone. The situation is changing, and efforts are made to find ways to further deepen the cooperation between the two countries in foreign trade, and to put forward relevant opinions and suggestions.First of all, this paper reviews the domestic and international research on the China-New Zealand Free Trade Area, analyzes the reasons for the establishment of the free trade zone, and analyzes the current trade situation between the two sides, and finds that the establishment of the free trade zone has brought great trade to the two countries.Promoting,China has risen from New Zealand's third trading partner to its first trading partner. Then, from the theoretical and empirical aspects,it analyzes how the trade effect of the China-New Zealand Free Trade Zone has changed. The results show that the establishment of the China-New Zealand Free Trade Zone has brought about a significant trade creation effect. Finally,in the context of the China-New Zealand Free Trade Area's escalation negotiations, the main issues affecting the development of the China-New Zealand Free Trade Area were analyzed, and recommendations were made to address these issues.
