Occupation is the basis of income. The division of labor market leads to the difference of income among different occupational groups.Career choices are often related to the family, because the phenomenon of "son inherits father's career" is very common in society.Since the 21 st century,China's economy has stepped into the track of rapid development, people's income level has been rising, but the income gap among residents is also widening. Therefore, the inter-generational occupational inheritance and the inter-generational income flow formed on this basis can provide new explanations for the reasons of the widening income gap of Chinese residents.Based on this, this paper studies the impact of career inheritance on intergenerational income mobility from an intergenerational perspective. In order to study the influence of career inheritance on intergenerational income mobility, this paper firstly analyses the influence mechanism of intergenerational career inheritance on intergenerational income mobility on the basis of intergenerational career transfer mechanism and intergenerational income flow theory, and points out that there are three ways of intergenerational career inheritance affecting intergenerational income mobility, namely, human capital investment and personal endowment legacy.Communication and social capital. On this basis, this paper uses the intergenerational occupational transfer matrix and intergenerational occupational mobility index to analyze the intergenerational occupational situation in China. Then, this paper uses the logarithmic income model to calculate the intergenerational income mobility in China, which includes the intergenerational income elasticity coefficient of families with different career mobility directions, the intergenerational income elasticity coefficient of urban and rural families, the intergenerational income elasticity coefficient of different regions, and the intergenerational income elasticity coefficient of families with different educational background. Finally, this paper uses the econometric model to quantitatively analyze the impact of career inheritance on intergenerational income mobility. The results of the analysis of intergenerational occupational status in China show that intergenerational occupational mobility is poor and the inheritance of occupations is high;intergenerational occupational mobility of urban families is better than that of rural families, and the probability of rural families carrying on their father's work isgreater than that of urban families;intergenerational mobility of occupations is not high, the openness of occupations among generations is small, and the occupational class solidifies. The image is obvious. The results of the analysis of the influence of occupational inheritance on Intergenerational Income Mobility show that the intergenerational occupational inheritance in Chinese families has obvious hindrance effect on intergenerational income mobility;compared with urban families, intergenerational occupational inheritance has greater impact on intergenerational income mobility in rural families;and the hindrance effect of intergenerational occupational inheritance on intergenerational income mobility will follow the passage of time. The level of economic development rises but decreases;for families with high educational background, the intergenerational career inheritance will have a weak hindrance to intergenerational income mobility.Based on the above conclusions,in order to narrow the income gap and reduce the class solidification, this paper suggests that the government should strengthen the establishment of a fair employment system, such as deepening the reform of the system, promoting the integration of urban and rural employment, promoting employment equity, and strengthening employment services. At the same time, measures should be taken to improve the education level of all the people, such as deepening education reform, promoting education equity, improving the student loan system, and improving the overall quality of workers.
