Nowadays,science and technology(S&T)service industry has become the main engine of regional innovation development and the necessary condition of international large-scale production,which plays a key role in promoting innovation performance in China.Under the trend of "softening economy" and industrial integration,it's an inevitable choice for S&T to jointly develop with modern manufacturing industry.Against this background,this paper main research is to analyze the internal mechanism of spatial agglomeration of S&T service industry in promoting regional innovation performance,also attempts to explore whether industrial clusters play a mediating role in this transmission path from the perspective of industrial interaction.Further research is to distinguish the regional differences of this mechanism in our country.Firstly this paper reviews some existing related studies about the connotation of S&T service industry cluster and its relationship with regional innovation,its interaction with manufacturingr.On this basis,summarized the direct path about S&T service industry agglomeration promotes regional innovation performance improvement,and the indirect path about S&T service industry drives industrial cluster to develop then greatly improve regional innovation performance.Then in empirical research,spatial Gini coefficient,concentration ration of industry,location entropy index are applied to objectively measure the regional differentiation and structure characteristic of S&T service industry agglomeration.The result shows that S&T service industry agglomeration appears overall rising trend,the specialization index of less-developed areas is higher,the diversification index of developed areas which has strength in economic and abundant human capital is higher.The significant spatial correlation of scientific research innovation performance and new product transformation innovation performance is proved by ESDA method.Subsequently,in order to make a empirical inquiry about the effect mechanism of S&T service industry agglomeration on regional innovation performance(divided into scientific research innovation and new product transformation innovation two kinds),we use the panel data of 30 provinces from 2003 to 2016 in China to set up spatial econometric model and the high technology industry cluster acts as a intermediate variable in the model.The results show that S&T service industry agglomeration has a significant promoting effect on regional innovation performance,and also industry cluster acts a partial mediating effect beyond this conduction path.That means some of the promoting effect of S&T service industry agglomeration through the industrial cluster have indirect positive effect on regional innovation performance.Finally,the paper concentrates on the different influence mechanism of the east,middle,west and northeast four area.Combined the spatial distribution and characteristic of S&T service industry agglomeration,we analyze the contributing factors of the regional mechanism difference.And at the end of the paper some suggestion about how to cooperate with regional characteristics to greatly speed up the construction of S&T service industry agglomerated area,promote regional innovation competitive advantage is put forward.
