With the deepening of economic globalization, the international division of labor is undergoing dramatic changes.China's reform and opening up is under such an international context. At present,China's participation in the international value chain is becoming more and more deep, but for a long time,China can only engage in relatively low-end division of labor by virtue of its own factor, which limits China's domestic value creation ability and international competitiveness. In the post-crisis era, under the background of the anti-globalization trend and the new era of China's“One Belt,One Road”,it is of great practical significance to study the impact of global value chain participation on the international competitiveness of the industry. On the basis of combing the theory of global value chain and participating in the theory of industrial competitiveness enhancement mechanism, this paper uses the production decomposition model proposed by Wang et al.(2017)to re-decompose and re-examine the 2016 version of WIOD database. In the empirical part, this paper uses the two-way fixed-effects model and select the global value chain participation index and NRCA index on the perspective of value-added as explanatory variables and explanatory variables, respectively, and analyzes panel data of 56 economies in the period from 2000 to 2014.In addition, this paper also makes a multi-group regression based on the heterogeneity between developed and developing countries, between the four departments, and within the manufacturing and service industries. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: First, the GVC participation in various industries of China is significantly higher than the world average, and China is now more embedded in the global division system playing the role of “value importer”,but in recent years the role is gradually shifting to "value exporter".Second, the competitiveness of China's manufacturing and service industries, especially capital-and technology-intensive manufacturing and modern producer services, has grown considerably.Thirdly,as a whole, the global value chain's forward participation, especially the simple participation, has a significant effect on the international competitiveness of the industry. After distinguishing between industry and country nature,GVC's forward-embedded activities have the strongest positive effect on service industry competitiveness, while the backward participation of global value chains has a significant inhibitory effect on developing country's manufacturing competitiveness, especially high-tech intensive manufacturing.Based on the above conclusions, this paper proposes the following policy recommendations: to promote domestic industries to participate in global value chains through value export, while accelerating the ability of domestic enterprises to create value-added;guide technology-intensive manufacturing to cultivate core competitive advantages, and strive to get rid of the negative impact because of excessive backward embedding;create a fair, healthy service market environment, and encourages the service industry to actively participate in global value chains and synergy with other industries.
