Research On The Competitiveness Of Ping An Property Insurance Company Based On The Perspective Of Cross-border Operation

With the further deepening of the reform and opening up process,the pace of cross-border business development of Chinese financial institutions has accelerated since the 21 st century.In Chinese insurance industry,Ping An Property Insurance International started early,has a long history of internationalization and rich experience in cross-border operations.It not only set up agent outlets and branches in the world for insurance business layout,but also actively carried out overseas equity investment and conducted overseas mergers and acquisitions.The cross-border business strategy is continuously carried out,which will inevitably have a certain impact on the comprehensive competitiveness of insurance companies,but the effect is uncertain.Therefore,studying the impact of cross-border business strategy on the competitiveness of Ping An Property Insurance can not only supplement the existing research on the competitiveness level of insurance companies,but also help Chinese insurance companies understand the effectiveness of cross-border operations in improving their competitiveness,which has important practical significance.Based on this background,this paper first explains the link between the crossborder operation and insurance companies' competitiveness from the theoretical level,using traditional cross-border operation theory and enterprise competitiveness theory,such as comparative advantage theory,enterprise internationalization stage theory,and foreign direct investment theory.Then the article combines the actual data of Ping An Property Insurance to analyze the process of its cross-border operations.After that,the data indicators of Ping An Property Insurance from 2007 to 2017 were selected,and factor analysis was used to calculate the competitiveness level of the past years.The cross-border management perspective was used to explain the changes in their competitiveness.Finally,using the synthetic control method,under the premise of excluding other influencing factors,it is more direct to calculate the extent of the impact of the implementation of the cross-border business strategy on the competitiveness of Ping An Property Insurance over the years.The research results of this paper show that after the formal implementation of the cross-border business strategy,its contributions in enhancing the competitiveness of Ping An Property Insurance has increased year by year.At present,the internationalization of insurance companies in China is in its infancy.Therefore,in the process of implementing cross-border business strategies,it is necessary to prevent the risk of cross-border operations from changing the competitiveness of insurance companies by taking international system into consideration and improving scientific decision-making.The impact will enable Chinese insurance companies to better carry out cross-border operations and enhance their international competitiveness.
