Social Relations And Acquiring The Honor Of Academic Elites

Innovation is the core force to promote academic progress.Elite refers to those who have outstanding achievements in specific fields,and scientific elites are the internal motivation of innovation.As an important human capital,scientific research elites continue to promote scientific progress due to scientific research output.As a scientific research elite widely recognized at home and abroad,they can make achievements in a certain field and achieve breakthrough results.The phenomenon of power rent-seeking in economic growth has always been a research point.The internal driving factor of economic development is innovation,but there is little research on power rent-seeking in the process of technological innovation.This article will use nine departments to be the research subjects.It introduces the concept of “important others” in psychology into economics research,combining other people's traits with personal traits.By empirical analysis,it predicts to enhance the probability of successful elections,if academic elites are elected by relationship with other academicians.Using the data of candidates and academicians of the Academy of Sciences and Engineering from 2009 to 2017,I test qualitative and quantitative analysis.It was found that there may be rent-seeking behavior because of the relationship with academicians.Compared with passive rent-seeking between candidates and non-committee members,the active rent-seeking of the Standing Committee provides a more feasible way for rent-seeking.Specifically,having important relationships with the extraordinary members of the faculty will help the academic elite enter the formal candidate stage;having a relationship with the standing committee member of the faculty will help the academic elite to be elected as an academician,and it is possible to construct relationships at each stage.In the case of a formal candidate to the final candidate,the candidate is greatly encouraged to help the candidate to increase the probability of being elected.As a result,there is still a way to rent-seek in the process of academic elites' selection of academicians.
