The Research Of American Academician System

American academician system has developed referring to Britain, France and othercountries. American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS) was set up in1780, while UnitedStates National Academy of Sciences (NAS) was established in1863. Since the establishmentof American academician system, it has provided counseling service for the government,which promotes American’s technological development. In recent years, academician systemhas rapidly developed in China, meanwhile, many problems and shortages are met during thisperiod. On this base, the paper studies American academician system, in order to use it forreference for the development of our country’s academician system.This paper takes a view on its historical background of American academician system,and clearly shows the process of establishment, extension and stabilization of Americanacademician system by sorting out its development. And on this basis, the paper focuses thesituation of American academician system, and also summarizes the function, characteristics,and deficiency of it, just by discussing and analyzing main organs, fund source, election, rightand obligation, number and category, demission and awards of academicians. After that, thepaper compares the situation, characteristics, and deficiency of China’s academician system toAmerican academician system, discarding the dross and selecting the essence, in order topromote healthy development of China’s academician system from the experiences ofAmerican academician system.
