Commercial banks are a key component of the financial industry.Since the reform and opening up,they have entered the fast lane along with the rapid development of China's economy. However,in the face of constant changes, their development faces many pressures and problems. On the one hand,as a special enterprise that operates “currency”,commercial banks are born with a greater influence on society. With the development of the economy and the progress of society, those commercial banks that pay attention to scale and despise quality have shown signs of fatigue in the competition. The emergence of Internet self-media,Internet finance and the increasing competitive pressure between banks have remind many banks, they begin to integrate social responsibility into development strategies and daily behaviors, they start to fully consider the interests of multi-stakeholders in order to increase social trust, and achieve sustainable development via these actions. On the other hand, resources are limited. If a commercial bank invests a part of its resources in social responsibility that cannot directly generate economic benefits,it will inevitably cause short-term internal pressure, which is a big test for the stable growth and sustainable development of the enterprise.Based on the era background and development pressure, can commercial banks achieve their stable development and growth while fulfilling their social responsibilities? Based on the stakeholder theory and the theory of corporate growth, this paper empirically studies the impact of commercial banks' social responsibility on the growth of the current period and the lag period. The corporate social responsibility data of 16 listed commercial banks are from 2011 to 2017 and the growth data of 2012 to 2017 are constructed by principal component analysis. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:First, the comprehensive performance of commercial banks in fulfilling their social responsibilities has a significant positive impact on the bank growth of the current period and the lag period, indicating that commercial banks' performance of corporate social responsibility has a significant role in promoting the bank growth of the current period and the lag period.Second, there are certain differences in the impact of commercial banks' performance on the social responsibility of different stakeholders on bank's growth.Among them, the commercial bank's current social responsibility to creditors has a significant positive impact on the company's growth of the current period and the lag period, while the commercial bank's current social responsibility to employees has a significant negative impact on the current growth of the company. Finally, based on the research conclusions of this paper,we summarize the limitations, shortcomings and prospects of future research in this paper, and put forward three suggestions for enterprises and governments. There are two main contributions of this paper: First,it explores and empirically examines the impact of commercial banks' fulfillment of social responsibility on their growth, and enriches the research on social responsibility of commercial banks. The second is to use the principal component analysis method to construct the comprehensive growth index of commercial banks in research methods, which has certain enlightenment significance.
