With the development of big data technology and the widespread use of mobile internet,the consumption environment,consumer demand,consumption patterns and consumption habits have changed a lot,which has brought many new problems to traditional retailers,making the tradition retailers facing with internal worries from their profit model and external expression from the development of e-commerce,and the development has been seriously hindered.After the online retailers touched the ceiling of the flow economy,they also extended their edges to explore the path of transformation and development.Driven by the policy of national supply-side reform,retailers,as a bridge between production and consumption,should shoulder the heavy responsibility of “de-capacity to inventory”.Therefore,how traditional retailers have transformed has become the focus of discussion in the industry and academia.At present,the research on big data,consumer demand,and retail industry transformation has stayed on the successful paradigm,but lack of the depth discussion on the profit model of traditional retailers and the analysis of the nature of consumer demand.Therefore,from the perspective of exploring the profit model of traditional retail enterprises,this paper takes the consumer demand in the context of big data as the starting point,and selects Costco as a prominent way to tap consumer demand,transform consumer value and maintain consumer stickiness.Cases,in-depth analysis of its ability to tap consumer demand,drive profit model around consumer value,achieve the logic of adversity development,and make innovative references to traditional retail enterprises.This paper begins with the development dilemma faced by traditional retail enterprises in the current special market,sums up the advantages and disadvantages of traditional retail enterprises and online retail enterprises,and finds the coexistence of opportunities andchallenges.Secondly,from the development history of retail industry,we look for the universality of consumer demand to promote the innovation of retail industry.From the law of historical development,we understand the essence of retail industry reform,and re-examine the important value of consumer demand to achieve the overall improvement of social value chain.Finally,we will settle on Costco's case,study the specific understandingof consumer value-driven profit model in traditional retailers,and compare Costco's financial indicators with Walmart,Yonghui Supermarket,Amazon and JD.From the particularity to the universality in the background of retail development,and from the universality of retail format change to the special of Costco case.Through the research logic,we explore the historical development law around consumer demand and in the process of transformation,aiming at providing innovative ideas for transformational discovery to China's traditional retail industry.From above,this paper starts from the case of Costco and puts forward three suggestions for the problems existing in the current profit model of traditional retail enterprises in China.Firstly,from the supply chain level,China's traditional retailers in the bargaining process with suppliers to promote a win-win situation and promote the harmony of retail-supply relationship,improve the efficiency of the industrial chain.Secondly,from the consumer level,identify the positioning of the consumer groups and the positioning of the enterprise's advantages,grasp the target consumer group's demand level and demand sensitivity factors,and form the core competitiveness.Thirdly,from the perspective of big data,China's traditional retail enterprises should expand the application scope of big data and enhance the level of technological transformation of enterprises.Only by keeping pace with the development of technology in the times can there be opportunities to win in the competition.
