In the era of knowledge economy,where the external environment is developing rapidly,the complex and ever-changing work requirements make the top-down work design unable to meet the needs of the organization.The importance of the employee's extra-role behavior is self-evident.Job crafting is a behavioral change that employees make in order to balance work requirements and work resources according to their own abilities and needs.It is a extra-role behavior that can have a positive impact on the organization.So,what factors can affect the employee's job crafting behavior? Previous studies have focused on both personal and environmental factors,and our research argues that temporal factors and leadership behavior are also important factors influencing employees' willingness to craft their job.So we introduce the variable temporal leadership.What effect does temporal leadership have on the subordinates' job crafting,and what is the impact mechanism? We try to give an answer through the research.Based on the job demands-resources model,this research explores the impact of temporal leadership on employees' job crafting and reveals the intermediary mechanism of time pressure,time efficacy and work passion.The study found that 1)temporal leadership has a significantly positive effect on subordinates' job crafting;2)temporal leadership has an effect on subordinates' work passion by time efficacy' s mediation effect;furthermore,3)work passion mediates the relationship between time efficacy and job crafting.This study also found that 4)the relationships between temporal leadership and subordinates' job crafting are sequentially mediated by time efficacy and work passion.5)temporal leadership is positively related to challenging pressure and challenging pressure mediates the relationships between temporal leadership and job crafting.6)challenging pressure is positively related to work passion and work passion mediates the relationship between challenging pressure and job crafting;7)the relationship between temporal leadership and subordinates' job crafting are sequentially mediated by challenging pressure and work passion.The innovations of this research are as follows: 1)Focus on the new research topic of temporal leadership,explore the result variables of temporal leadership,and enrich the relevant research of temporal leadership.2)Explain the relationship between temporal leadership and job crafting,and provide empirical evidence that temporal leadership has a positive effect on the subordinates' job crafting,and enriches the research on the antecedent variables of job crafting behavior from the perspective of time.3)Based on the job demands-resources model,this research regards temporal leadership as not only job resource but also job demands.It interprets the influence mechanism between temporal leadership and its outcome variables through the mediating role of time pressure and time efficacy,and provides a new theoretical perspective for explaining the mechanism of temporal leadership.In addition,this study also provides some practical advice for management practice.First,managers should learn effective temporal leadership behaviors,such as reminding task deadlines timely,planning task progress,and coordinating activities,rationally allocate time resources to reduce time pressure for employees.Secondly,managers should pay special attention to improving the happiness of employees related to time,so as to lead employees to have a harmonious passion toward work,promote the employees' job crafting behavior,and change the content or methods of work with a proactive attitude.
