C. Research On Operational Risk Management Of Commercial Banks

The operational risk of commercial banks has existed since the birth of banking industry.In the past,commercial banks mainly focused on credit risk and market risk,while operational risk did not attract enough attention for a long time.To control the credit risk and market risk,commercial banks have executed high risk control standards and minimum capital reserve requirements.For the past few years,people have paid more and more attention to the losses caused by the operational risk of commercial banks,and more and more researches in related fields have been conducted.Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has clearly listed operational risk as one of the three major risk of commercial banks,and brought it into the capital supervision requirements.However,the research on operational risk of bank obviously lag behind the credit risk and market risk.Because of the lag and imperfection in the theoretical guidance of the commercial banks' operational risk,the practical management of operational risk is also relatively weak.At the present stage,the bank's own environment and the market always change faster than the theories of operational risk management of commercial banks,which makes operational risk not be completely avoided in the bank's operation process,then brings a bad impact on the bank's stable operation.Therefore,the research on the operational risk management of commercial banks has double meaning with theory and practice.This paper takes operational risk management of bank C as the case study object.Firstly the management status of operational risk management of bank C is introduced,then the account errors of bank C in recent years are investigated,and 9 typical operational risk events are selected for case analysis.By the interview records of bank C's operational risk managers,the article emphatically analyzes the problems and reasons of bank C's operational risk management,based on which,suggestions on bank C's operational risk management are put forward.Through the analysis of this case,the management level of bank C's operational risk can be effectively improved.It is also hoped that the solutions put out in this paper can be used when problems related to operational risk management occur in other banks.
