Since the 20 th century, with the rapid development of science and technology, electronic networks and transportation, the pattern of international trade and foreign investment has undergone tremendous changes. The new form of international competition is manifested in the competition of global value chain status.Western developed countries have begun their globalization based on value chain. However, for a long time,China has been able to engage in the low-end link of the value-added value chain with low value, and it is facing the risk of low-end locking.Nowadays, with the gradual disappearance of China's demographic dividends and natural resources,China is losing its original competitive advantage. It is urgent to realize the transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure and promote sustained and healthy economic development. As part of the “going out” strategy, foreign greenfield investment can transfer domestically backward industries to countries with lower levels of economic development, release a large amount of resources for technological innovation, and develop emerging industries. At the same time,it can absorb reverse technology from developed countries.Spillover effects, through the imitation of learning to achieve their own technology innovation and industrial upgrading, and thus promote the upgrade of the global value chain status. This thesis mainly uses the combination of theoretical research and empirical research, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, and studies the impact of China's external green space investment on its GVC status in five parts. The first part is the introduction, mainly using the literature research method, introducing the research background and significance of this thesis, literature review, research content and methods, innovation points and deficiencies. The second part mainly adopts the comparative analysis method, and introduces the status quo and development trend of China's foreign greenfield investment and global value chain status from the whole and industry level. In the third part, this thesis attempts to analyze the three possible pairs of China's foreign greenfield investment. The impact path of global value chain status upgrade mainly includes reverse technology spillover effect, marginal industrial transfer effect and industrial hollowing effect. The fourth part mainly uses empirical analysis method to calculate the global value chain of China and the industry in 2003-2014.Status indicators, and empirically analyze the impact of China's external greenfield investment on its GVC status from the two aspects of the overall and industrial aspects, and empirically test the three impact mechanisms mentioned in the third part;the fifth part is based on the previous Theoretical and empirical research, this thesis is a clear understanding of the specific impact of China's external greenfield investment on its global value chain status and its impact. Therefore, this part mainly proposes policy recommendations from the government and enterprise level, hoping to be able to China's industrial structure.Transformational upgrades and global value chain status L provide a way out,new growth may contribute to China's economic development. The thesis findings in this paper are fourfold: First,China's foreign greenfield investment has a significant positive effect on the upgrading of its GVC status.Second, there are differences in the impact of different industries' external greenfield investment on global value chains: the impact of external greenfield investment on the status of global value chains in the secondary and tertiary industries has a significant positive effect, but the primary industry's external greenfield investment can be negative.Suppress the improvement of its GVC status.Third, the reverse technology spillover effect of the greenfield investment on the overall and primary secondary and third industries is not obvious. On the contrary, the tertiary industry has a significant reverse technology spillover effect. The fourth is the emergence of a net shift in China's industry,so there is no hollowing out effect of the industry. The marginal industrial transfer effect of China's overall and third levels is not significant, and the marginal industrial transfer effects of the primary and secondary industries are more significant. This thesis can supplement the academic research content in this field;it can provide targeted support for enterprises and the government's go-go strategy,in order to better cope with the rising position of China's global value chain and the internal appeal of industrial structure transformation and upgrading.
