Based on the theory of MMI and EMI,this study uses the data of China Education Tracking Survey(CEPS)in 2014 to analyze the impact of family capital and access to education opportunities on students' academic performance in junior middle school education in China by using the structural equation model..The family capital in this study is divided into four dimensions: family cultural capital, family social capital, family economic capital and family political capital.Educational opportunity acquisition can be divided into school education opportunity acquisition and shadow education opportunity acquisition.Population factors are put into the model to investigate the interference of population factors on the model.Firstly, family capital has a significant impact on students' academic performance, among which family cultural capital is the most important one.Secondly, family capital has a significant impact on school education opportunities, among which the impact of family economic capital is the most important. The better the family's economic conditions and cultural capital, the easier it is for children to receive high-quality school education.Thirdly, family capital has a significant impact on shadow education opportunities, among which family cultural capital is the most important. The higher the quality of the school, the stronger the family cultural atmosphere, the better the family economic conditions, and the lower the political capital, the more likely the students are to take part in the remedial study,or to take part in the more extensive remedial study with high quality.Fourthly, family capital also indirectly affects shadow education opportunities by influencing access to school education opportunities.Fifthly, family capital also influences students' academic performance through school education opportunities and shadow education opportunities, and shadow education opportunities have more important influence than school education opportunities.Sixth, demographic factors play a moderating or interfering role in the model of the impact of family capital on educational opportunities and student performance.
