Research On The Impact Of Industrial Agglomeration On Manufacturing Total Factor Productivity In Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

As an important form of industrial organization and a prominent economic phenomenon,the industrial agglomeration can improve total factor productivity effectively.In the background of the proposal of "Made in China 2025" policy,China's manufacturing industry has become an inevitable trend of high-quality and high-level development.The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is the capital economic circle and one of the three major economic growth poles in China.Its manufacturing development level in the forefront of China for a long time.In addition to all sectors of society have payed attention to its procedure of industrial agglomeration.So,how does industrial agglomeration affect the manufacturing total factor productivity ? This article has studied from both theoretical and empirical aspects.This paper mainly uses a combination of the method of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis to analyze the impact of industrial agglomeration on the manufacturing total factor productivity in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.In terms of theory,it sorts out the relevant theories of industrial agglomeration and reviews the existing research literature,decomposes the total factor productivity into technological progress and technical efficiency.Meanwhile explains the impact of industrial agglomeration on total factor productivity from these two perspectives.In empirical terms,it uses the comprehensive location entropy index and the DEA model to measure the degree of industrial agglomeration and total factor productivity.Based on the records it construct an econometric model by using panel data from2006 to 2016 on manufacturing in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and analyzed the impact of industrial agglomeration on manufacturing total factor productivity.The following conclusions were reached:(1)The overall manufacturing agglomeration degree in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is relatively high.Among them,Tianjin and Hebei are relatively in the leads,while the agglomeration degree of Beijing is relatively low.In the segment manufacturing industry,ferrous metal smelting and other seven industries,such as calendar processing industry,food manufacturing industry,petroleum processing,coking and nuclear fuel processing industry,have higher comprehensive entropy indexes,which are high agglomeration industries,and the remaining sixteen industries are low agglomeration industries.(2)The overall manufacturing total factor productivity in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has shown an increase situation,andthe manufacturing total factor productivity has maintained a high level in all provinces(municipalities)in the region.In addition both of the high agglomeration industries and the low agglomeration industries have shown an increase situation.(3)The industrial agglomeration in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has played a significant positive impact on manufacturing total factor productivity.It can promote the manufacturing total factor productivity by the ways of technological progress and technological efficiency.In high agglomeration industries,industrial agglomeration can have a significant positive impact on manufacturing total factor productivity and technological progress.In low agglomeration industries,industrial agglomeration can have a significant positive impact on manufacturing total factor productivity and technological efficiency.In view of this,in order to improve the manufacturing total factor productivity in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and promote the coordinated development of the regional economy,this article proposes the following suggestion: rely on the advantageous industries to promote the use of agglomeration effects;increase investment in research and development,promote the deep integration of innovation resources;Establish a new type of cooperation mechanism;countermeasures to break administrative barriers and promote coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
