"Innovation" has undoubtedly become synonymous with the current era, more and more companies realize that only "innovation" this "smart key" can open the inexhaustible source of power for the company's forward development.Employee innovation is the foundation of enterprise innovation. How to enhance employees' awareness of innovation and inspire employees' innovative behavior has become a major problem that companies need to solve. In the past, the investigation of employees' innovative behavior focused on individual factors, situational factors, and the interaction between the two.In the exploration of situational factors, leaders are mostly considered to be the most important factor in promoting innovation and guiding change. However, related studies have found that people are more susceptible to negative emotions, that is,negative leadership may have greater impact on employees' innovative behavior. Therefore,it is particularly important to study the negative leadership's impact on employees' innovative behavior. In recent years,as academics have increased their attention to “darkness” or negative leadership behavior, authoritarian leadership has been studied and discussed by the majority of scholars as a typical representative of negative leadership. That is,some studies have found that authoritarian leadership has a certain degree of negative impact on individual psychology, emotion, attitude and behavior. There are also studies that argue that the relationship between authoritarian leadership and employee performance or organizational attitude is weak, and in some cases it may even have a positive effect. However, most of the studies on authoritarian leadership are only presented as one of the dimensions of paternalistic leadership, and their conclusions are easily influenced by other dimensions. In view of this, this study designs authoritarian leadership as the independent variable, employee innovation behavior as the outcome variable, and further examines the relationship between authoritarian leadership and employee innovation behavior based on summarizing and combing relevant research.Secondly, based on the combing and in-depth study of the existing literature, this study introduces the leadership-member exchange relationship and innovative sense of self-efficacy,proposes hypotheses and builds a mediation model with adjustment, based on social exchange theory and cognitive theory. From the perspective of emotional relationship and individual self-cognition,it reveals the influence mechanism of authoritarian leadership on employee innovation behavior. In this study,a “leader-employee” paired questionnaire survey was conducted and 45 department leaders and employees of 18 companies in Beijing,Tianjin,Hebei,Shanxi, and Guangxi were surveyed.A total of 232 valid questionnaires were obtained. This study mainly uses statistical analysis software such as SPSS,SPSS Process plug-in,and AMOS.It uses factor analysis, correlation analysis,multi-level linear regression analysis and other mathematical statistics methods to collate the collected sample data to test whether the theoretical model and research hypothesis are Established. The empirical analysis results show that authoritarian leadership has a significant negative impact on employee innovation behavior;authoritarian leadership has a significant negative impact on leadership-member exchange relationships;leadership-member exchange relationships significantly positively affect employee innovation behavior, and leadership-member exchange relations are authoritarian leadership. There are some mediating roles in the process of influencing employees' innovation behavior;innovation self-efficacy plays a counter-regulatory role in the leadership-member exchange relationship and employee innovation behavior;innovation self-efficacy plays a regulatory role in the intermediary role of the leader-member exchange relationship. In summary, based on social exchange theory and cognitive theory, this study further reveals the internal mechanisms of authoritarian leadership affecting employees' innovative behavior based on the perspective of emotional relationship and individual self-cognition,and explores the leadership-member exchange relationship in this process. The role of mediation and the regulatory role of innovative self-efficacy.It further enriched the theory of leadership behavior, expanded the research perspectives of social exchange theory and social cognitive theory, and provided some management inspiration for corporate practice. It also has certain reference value for the organization how to motivate employees' innovation motivation.
