Research On The Impact Of The Diversification Of Agricultural Product Imports On The Total Factor Productivity Of Agricultural Product Processing Industry In China

Since China’s accession to the WTO,China’s agricultural product import trade has grown rapidly.In 2018,China’s total agricultural product import reached 907.576 billion yuan,and the agricultural product trade deficit persisted and continued to expand.It determines the high dependence of China’s agricultural products on foreign markets,which all indicate the necessity of enriching the imports of agricultural products.At the same time,total factor productivity,as an important indicator to measure a country’s economic development,also highlighted the task of improving total factor productivity in the report of the 19 th National Congress.Based on the objective fact that agricultural product import diversification needs to be improved urgently and the importance of total factor productivity as an indicator of economic development,this article focuses on the research of agricultural product import diversification on China ’s agricultural product processing industry total factor productivity from the perspective of agricultural product import diversification Impact.This article first analyzes the actual situation of China’s agricultural product import trade from three aspects of import scale,product and market,and then analyzes the relevant changes of China’s agricultural product import types from 2002 to 2016,and then measures the variety of China’s agricultural product imports based on the Feenstra index method.Index,which specifically analyzes the agricultural product import diversification index of the agricultural product processing industry itself,upstream industries,different industry categories and different importing country categories,and then the total factor productivity of China’s agricultural product import diversification is calculated by Solow residual value method,and then the relationship between agricultural product import diversification and total factor productivity of agricultural product processing industry is analyzed,and finally use the fixed-effect model under the instrumental variable method to analyze the impact of industry and upstream industry agricultural product import diversification on the total factor productivity of agricultural product processing industry,and use the system GMM model to measure The impact of diversified imports of agricultural products under different categories on the total factor productivity of the agricultural products processing industry.Based on the above research and analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)From 2004 to 2018,China’s agricultural product import trade scale and trade deficit increased,the product structure gradually became balanced,and the distribution of the import market was continuously optimized under the premise of relatively stable.(2)From 2002 to 2016,the degree of diversification of China’s agricultural product imports continued to increase.Looking at the index of agricultural product diversification from different angles,the number of China’s agricultural product imports increased.(3)The diversification of agricultural product processing industry itself,resource-intensive industries,and imports of agricultural products from developed countries have a significant role in promoting the improvement of total factor productivity of China’s agricultural product processing industry.Finally,based on the conclusion of this study,the following suggestions are put forward:(1)Trade policy should be revised,and import trade should be optimized;(2)Import structure and quality should be improved;(3)Talents should be cultivated to facilitate the optimization of industrial structure;(4)Scope of import source countries should be expanded and the structure of import source countries should be optimized.
