With the rapid development of China's economy and society,material production materials have been greatly enriched,the quality of life of residents has been greatly improved,and the overall level of residents' income has increased.Accelerating the construction of education and culture has become the main task of China's current society.In this context,it is of great practical significance to refocus on the issue of education consumption.Therefore,based on the overall framework of consumer society theory,this paper focuses on qualitative research,combined with a certain degree of quantitative research,integrates the theory of cultural capital and social stratification theory,and discusses the educational consumption of urban residents in China in the new era.The study finds that the educational consumption of urban residents in China has a process of development and evolution with the deepening of reform and opening up and the development of social economy,playing an increasingly important role in the daily life of residents.In the consumer society,the educational consumer market presents a diversified,segmented,and differentiated situation.The consumption of pure commodity goods is replaced by symbolic consumption in the consumer society.Any consumption made by people reflects the different consumer individuals themselves.The social status,cultural taste,and economic strength,people no longer consume only the goods as objects,but the symbols represented by the consumer goods and their cultural significance.Educational consumption,as an important part of cultural consumption,spreads rapidly in cities and towns in the crazy enthusiasm of consumption.Behind education,it contains the cultural taste and economic strength of urban residents,and thus demonstrates their social status.The educational consumption of urban residents clearly shows two distinctive characteristics of content diversity and class differentiation.In addition to traditional tutoring and art education,there are more urban residents who are engaged in adult education.Emerging educational consumption methods such as life literacy education and experiential education are also favored more,but the continuous increase in educational consumption makes the distribution of educational resources more and more unfair,and the disadvantaged groups receive less care,making the rich richer and poorer.The poorer the society,the lower the mobility of the social class,and the greater the intergenerational inheritance of the class,the more solidified the hierarchy of the entire society.The study proposes to construct an interactive mechanism for education and consumption of urban residents,that is,to build a framework for multi-interaction mechanism,to form a four-interconnected mechanism for demand identification,supply security,regional agglomeration and policy support for education consumption,emphasizing the consumption subject and supply subject of education consumption.A three-way interaction with the government.
