Transportation infrastructure has always been an important promoter of the rapid and coordinated development of the national economy, and the relationship with economic growth has always been the focus of attention of the government and scholars At the same time, the transportation infrastructure can promote the exchange of economic factors among various regions, and thus achieve the role of eliminating regional economic differences. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the spatial effects of transportation facilities in different regions and economic growth in different regions. At present, the research results of domestic and foreign scholars are quite abundant, but it is still rare to analyze the influence degree, size and even direction of traffic facilities on the economic growth of surrounding areas in specific provinces or cities. Therefore, this paper proposes to use the GVAR model to analyze the spillover effects of transportation facilities between different economies, and to make a global measurement of transportation infrastructure and regional economic relations in different regions.Firstly, based on relevant theories, this paper combs the basic theory of transportation infrastructure for economic growth, and analyzes the influence mechanism of its spatial effect. Then it analyzes the transportation infrastructure and the status quo and spatial distribution of China's economic development, and preliminary combs the relationship between the two. Then this paper uses GVAR model to study the relationship between transportation infrastructure and economy from a spatial perspective. The GVAR model was constructed using the panel data of China's provinces and cities from 2001 to 2016,and it was divided into the eastern, central and western regions to investigate the spatial spillover effects of transportation infrastructure between different regions on economic growth in different regions. The study found that:(1)the impact of transportation infrastructure has a positive cumulative effect on the economic growth of most foreign provinces and cities, that is,it has an important role in promoting regional economic growth, but there are also spatial negative spillover effects;(2)In terms of spatial negative spillovers, the improvement of the transportation infrastructure in the eastern and central regions has generally inhibited the economic growth of the central provinces and cities in the process of accelerating the cross-regional transfer of labor;(3)the transportation infrastructure of the western region to the economic growth of the region. The promotion effect is far greater than its promotion to the surrounding regional economy, and it has a negative spillover effect on some central provinces and cities. Finally,on the basis of the results of this study,we can draw some policy implications.
