Research On The Consumption Structure Of Rural Residents In Gongyi City

With the slowdowns of global and China's economy,investment decline is accompanied by weakening export.Consumption has gradually became the strong engine of economic growth.In 2018,the contribution of final consumer expenditure to the GDP growth was 76.2%,but the outbreak of Coronavirus disease(COVID-19)epidemic at the end of 2019 has caused economy to a halt.According to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics in January 2020,the contribution of final consumer expenditure in 2019 was 57.8%,showing a significant decrease compared to that in 2018 and predicting a greater decline in 2020.But in the long run,China's economy will continue to improve with consumption still being the main driving force for economic growth.China,as one of the biggest countries in agriculture,it is of significance to optimize consumption structure,especially in rural areas,so as to boost the high-quality development of China's economy in the future.Taking rural residents in Gongyi City(Henan Province)as the research object,this research reviewed the Statistic Yearbook of Henan,the Statistic Yearbook of Gongyi,and held a series of field visits.In reference to the collected consumption data from 2010 to 2018,it systematically analyzed the rural consumption status and consumption structure development in Gongyi City,then made a comparison between the consumption structure of rural residents in Gongyi City and that of rural residents in Henan Province and in Zhengzhou City,which helped to identify the situation of rural consumption structure in Gongyi City as well as the existing problems.It can be seen that Gongyi's rural subsistence consumption has steadily increased but with both its weighted ratio in consumption structure and the Engel's coefficient continuing to decrease;comparatively,development-type consumption and enjoyment-type consumption have grown rapidly with its weighted ratio increasing.Meanwhile,due to Gongyi's advantageous economic development conditions,its rural consumption structure takes the upper hand with the proportion of subsistence consumption slashing and that of both development-type consumption and enjoyment-type consumption soaring,especially prospering in transportation and communication and some other goods and services.At present,per capita disposable income of rural residents in Gongyi goes upward but at a relatively slowing-down growth rate,therefore further measures are needed to lift the restrictions from subsistence-dominated consumption structure and constantly optimize consumption levels.Considering these problems,some feasible suggestions are put forward: firstly,it is crucial to establish a sound mechanism and expand channels for the income increase of rural residents;secondly,it is suggested to highly promote the construction of Urban-rural Integration Demonstration Zones for the upgrading of consumption structure;thirdly,it is of great value to propel rural supply-side structural reforms in order to provide a positive guidance on the prosperity of Urban-rural Integration Demonstration Zones in Gongyi City.
