Pharmaceutical industry is known as "sunrise industry which never declines",and it is one of the most noticeable high-tech industries in the 21 st century.At present,the competition in the global pharmaceutical industry is becoming increasingly fierce.The competition of pharmaceutical industry is actually the competition of technological innovation.Intellectual property protection has an important impact on technological innovation of pharmaceutical industry.With the continuous advancement of globalization,intellectual property protection and technological innovation of pharmaceutical industry have become the focus of attention of all countries.China and India are both big pharmaceutical producers,and there are some differences in intellectual property protection of pharmaceutical industry.At present,the intensity of intellectual property protection in both countries is at a low level.In order to better promote the innovation and development of China's pharmaceutical industry,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to compare the impact of intellectual property protection intensity between China and India on the innovation and development of pharmaceutical industry.Firstly,based on the theoretical analysis of the impact of intellectual property protection intensity on innovation and development of pharmaceutical industry,this paper finds that intellectual property protection has both incentive and inhibition effects on technological innovation.Secondly,this paper measures the intensity of intellectual property protection between China and India,and makes a comparative analysis of the current situation of intellectual property protection between China and India from the perspective of the intensity of intellectual property protection.From the aspects of the scale of Chinese and Indian pharmaceutical industry,the number of patent applications for medical invention,the density of medical patent,pharmaceutical enterprises and R&D investment,this paper analyzed the current situation of innovation development of Chinese and Indian pharmaceutical industry,and provided the basis for the empirical analysis in the following part.Thirdly,using quantitative research method and taking the density of pharmaceutical patents as an index to measure the level of innovation anddevelopment of pharmaceutical industry,this paper compares the impact of intellectual property protection intensity between China and India on innovation and development of pharmaceutical industry,and concludes that the intensity of intellectual property protection in India inhibits the innovation and development of Indian pharmaceutical industry,and that the intensity of intellectual property protection in China promotes the innovation of Chinese pharmaceutical industry.The experience and lessons learned from the development of Indian pharmaceutical industry were briefly analyzed.Finally,this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to promote the innovation and development of the pharmaceutical industry in China from four aspects: enhancing the intensity of intellectual property protection in the pharmaceutical industry,improving the supporting policies for intellectual property protection,enhancing the awareness of intellectual property protection,and increasing the investment of R&D funds and talents in the pharmaceutical industry.
