On The Social And Economic History Of Luo Zhanglong

Luo Zhanglong was an early activist of the Chinese Communist Party.After leaving politics in 1934,he entered university and has been engaged in the teaching and research of Chinese economic history for a long time.This article consists of three chapters.The first chapter sorts out the source and changes of Luo Zhanglong's thought.In his early years,he insisted on the historical materialism of Marxism.Although he was still influenced by the historical materialism to a certain extent academically after leaving politics,he no longer adhered to the goals of the previous social revolution.His views on Chinese social and economic history,especially the evolution of social formations,are generally different from Chinese Marxist historians.The latter two chapters discuss Essentials of Economic History and History of Chinese National Economy respectively,and comment on the economic history theories,including totalism,period theory,and historical theory.In combination with his research and practice of Chinese economic history,this article analyzes his theoretical framework,history characteristics,and gains and losses.History of Chinese National Economy has a certain pioneering significance for the study of the general history of Chinese society and economy.It pays more attention to starting from the characteristics of China's economic history and has strong speculative characteristics.However,due to the limitations of the times and personal thoughts,whether in the collection of historical materials or the argumentation of viewpoints,this book still needs further consideration.
