After the "cultural revolution",people have already begun to evaluate and understand the economic development history during that period. However, the academic research on the economic history of the "cultural revolution" began in the mid-1980 s,and it has been 40 years since then.It can be divided into three phases: "starting","contending" and "expanding".During the period, the discussion of "The verge of collapse" and "Development" was the main content of the academic debate. It is not only an important issue to understand and deepen the study of the history of the "Cultural Revolution",but also an important part of exploring the process of Marxism Sinicization in China's socialist economic construction. At present, although the research on the economic history of the "Cultural Revolution" has achieved a lot, there has not yet been an academic review involving the study of the economic history of the "Cultural Revolution" at home and abroad. It is of great value for accurately grasping the similarities, differences, and misunderstandings of the theory of "the verge of collapse" and "development",and deepening the study of the economic history of the "cultural revolution".And this is the academic value of the topic.Through the comprehensive review and analysis of the existing academic literature, this paper starts with the introduction, sets up chapters in each stage, then expounds the deepening of research thinking, and paves the framework of Chapter 5 for to carry out the research.Chapter 1: Introduction.Combing and analyzing the existing academic research literature to establish the significance and value of the topic selection. Then,by combing the three phases of research and analyzing its content,it is helpful to find deepening bottlenecks and form progressive deepening research. Finally, the thinking of the frontier research is formed, and the research framework of five chapters is laid.Chapter 2: The beginning of research(Mid 1980 s to 1995).Li Chengrui is the representative of the beginning of academic research, and then Liu Suian,Wu Qungong,Zhao Dexin and the American scholars of "Cambridge" followed up the research.Their basic consensus is that the national economy went through five or six stages of "three falls and two falls" or "three rises and three falls",and the economy was "on the verge of collapse" but at the same time "developed" during the "Cultural Revolution",which corresponds to the understanding the top of CPC and Resolution on Certain Questions in the History of Our Party Since Founding of the People's Republic of China.Chapter 3: The phase of academic disagreement(1996-2008).Since 1996,there has been a confrontation between Xi Xuan,Jin Chunming,Wang Haiguang,Chen Donglin,Wu Li and other scholars on the "overall national economy" between "the verge of collapse" and "somewhat developed".The support of the theory of "on the verge of collapse" is focused on the three "crisis" of "economic system","human resources" and "poverty",and replacing some of the major developments with certain developments. On the other hand, the theory of "some development" is based on the annual average growth rate of "gross agricultural output value, social gross output value, and national income",and industrial transportation, agriculture, science and technology, and third-line construction have also achieved certain developments. However,Professor Chen Yongfa of Taiwan believes that instead of arguing about "collapse" or "development","it's better to say that there is no substantial improvement in the lives of ordinary people."Chapter 4: The phase of further expansion of research(2009-2018).At this phase, the academic debate in the Pre-phase lacked substantial confrontation and gradually cooled down.It also showed a further expansion of research in the meso and micro aspects around the 50 th anniversary of the outbreak of the “Cultural Revolution”.Chen Donglin considers that the economy during the "Cultural Revolution" period "historical status in China's industrialization process" and "the four start-ups of the modernization process",and deepened the connection with reform and opening up in his new treatise. He also continued to insist on "developmental" viewpoints. In addition to these, scholars have also deepened the research on the meso and micro aspects of third-line construction,Fujian and other provinces and even cases such as county and family.Chapter 5: Breakthrough analysis of research bottlenecks.Based on the research and analysis of the second, third and fourth chapters, this chapter holds that the key to deepening the study of the economic history of the "cultural revolution" is to avoid the discussion paradigm of self-talk and self-talk in the contention of the theory of “the verge of collapse " and " somewhat developed”,so as to reach consensus in the confrontation of substantive issues. The difference between the theory of "collapse edge" and the theory of "some development" is actually the two sides of the overall evaluation of the economic history of the "cultural revolution" rather than the mutually negative conclusion. And the objective study of the economic "development" during the “cultural revolution” should focus on the reasons why there is no better and greater "due development" and deepen the correct choice of China's economic reform and opening up.To explore the relationship between the economy of "cultural revolution" and the economy of reform and opening up,we should base ourselves on how to continue and deepen the reform of market economy at the present time when the economy of reform and opening up starts after 40 years. In this way,it will contribute to an accurate understanding of the sinicization of marxism in China's socialist road.
