The Impact Of Green Entrepreneurship Orientation On The Performance Of Start-ups

With the gradual aggravation of environmental degradation and the improvement of people's requirements for quality of life,green entrepreneurship has become a concern of more and more researchers and entrepreneurs.More and more enterprises regard the new technological breakthroughs and new business models brought by green entrepreneurship as the key method to obtain sustainable competitive advantages.In the 1970 s,some scholars suggested that greening might provide a new and lucrative market for enterprises;but some studies have suggested that providing green products and services as a corporate strategy would have a negative impact on corporate performance.Previous studies have failed to agree on the impact of green entrepreneurship orientation on corporate performance.According to the analysis of relevant literature,current researches on green entrepreneurship and green entrepreneurship orientation mainly focus on defining the meaning of green entrepreneurship orientation,summarizing and sorting out the types and characteristics of green entrepreneurship,and discussing the motivation and operation mode of green entrepreneurship.In the field of entrepreneurship,the assertion that entrepreneurial performance is positively affected by entrepreneurship orientation has been supported by many studies,but whether green entrepreneurship orientation will influence the performance of entrepreneurial enterprises remains to be explored.Therefore,it is of great significance to clarify whether green entrepreneurial orientation has an impact on the performance of start-ups and how this effect works.Business model innovation refers to the renewal of enterprise decision-making and value creation through the application of new business,new ideas and new technologies.On the one hand,business model innovation will be influenced by entrepreneurial orientation;on the other hand,business model innovation will have an impact on enterprise performance.Therefore,this paper takes business model innovation as an intermediary variable between green entrepreneurial orientation and performance of start-ups.At the same time,considering that the external environment of enterprises will have a corresponding impact on the performance of entrepreneurial enterprises,this paper takes environmental uncertainty as the regulating variable between business model innovation and performance of start-ups.The research object of this paper is entrepreneurial enterprises.Through the analysis of literature,the model of "green entrepreneurship orientation-business model innovation-performance of start-ups " is put forward.Based on this model,the hypothesis is put forward and the empirical test is carried out.After combing the literature,this article from innovation-oriented,first-mover-oriented,risk-takingoriented and environment-oriented four aspects to measure green entrepreneurial orientation,from financial performance,growth performance and environmental performance to measure start-up performance,with one dimension measurement for business model innovation,from of complexity,dynamic and hostile three aspects to measure environment uncertainty.This paper uses the scale with good reliability and validity for reference to form a questionnaire to collect data,and uses SPSS to analyze the screened data,and draws the following conclusions.First,as a strategic choice for entrepreneurial enterprises,green entrepreneurship orientation will guide them in how to carry out business activities.All dimensions of green entrepreneurship orientation have positive effects on the performance of start-ups.Secondly,this paper verifies the positive impact of green entrepreneurship orientation on business model innovation.Green entrepreneurship orientation will promote enterprises to innovate business model,but the hypothesis that risk-bearing orientation influences business model innovation is not established.In addition,the positive impact of business model innovation on entrepreneurial enterprise performance has been verified.Secondly,the business model innovation partly mediates the influence of green entrepreneurship orientation on the performance of entrepreneurial enterprises.Finally,the role of environmental uncertainty in positively regulating the relationship between business model innovation and entrepreneurial enterprise performance has not been verified.In this paper,the research results enrich the antecedent research about performance of start-up,also discuss the mediating role of business model innovation in the influence of green entrepreneurship orientation on the performance of start-up.From the perspective of practice,this paper is helpful for entrepreneurial enterprises to realize the importance of green entrepreneurial orientation in improving the performance of entrepreneurial enterprises.Entrepreneurial enterprises should focus on cultivating and implementing green entrepreneurial orientation,so as to obtain sustainable competitive advantages in a way more in line with the development trend.
