The Impact Of Urban Sprawl On The Quality Of Economic Eevelopment

Since 2003,due to the rapid and extensive development of urbanization in China,the urbanization speed of population lags behind that of land,and the phenomenon of urban sprawl has gradually emerged.The disordered low-density sprawl of urban space is a typical manifestation of the current non-intensive development of urban land in China,and it is also a major issue concerning the high-quality development of China's economy.To explore the correlation between urban sprawl and the quality of China's regional economic development and confirm the impact of urban sprawl on the quality of China's regional economic development is of great significance to the smooth promotion of new urbanization in the new era,the scientific demarcation of urban growth boundaries,and the correct handling of major social contradictions.This paper uses Python programming language to do data mining of 100 domestic literatures on the theme of "evaluation of the quality of economic development",and determines the per capita GDP as the proxy variable of the quality of economic development by combining relevant economic theories.At the same time,under the perspective of per capita output,preliminary built cities spread model affecting the quality of economic development theory,and on the basis of the existing related research at home and abroad,to city cost increase,transferred pollution,ecology and urban and rural income gap,etc,for example,discusses the city spreading mechanism affecting the quality of economic development.In the empirical study,the panel data of 282 cities at and above the prefecture-level in mainland China from 2004 to 2013 were used as the research sample,and the objective night satellite light data were selected to measure the urban sprawl,and the rationality of the data was explored.Finally,by constructing an econometric model of the relationship between urban sprawl and the quality of economic development,this paper empirically studies the impact of urban sprawl on the quality of regional economic development,and makes a robustness test of the relevant results.The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows :(1)DMSP/OLS night light intensity can be used as the proxy index of urban sprawl;(2)urban sprawl will have a significant negative impact on the quality of regional economic development;(3)the negative impact of urban sprawl on the quality of regional economic development shows the heterogeneity of regional and city scale;(4)the negative impact of urban sprawl on the economic development quality of small cities in the central and eastern regions has temporal heterogeneity,and the rapid development of the secondary industry is a transmission mechanism for this negative impact to emerge.The countermeasures of this paper are as follows :(1)combining with the internal requirements of high-quality economic development,steadily promote the new type of urbanization;(2)grasp the heterogeneous influence of urban sprawl on the quality of economic development,and explore the path of urban spatial expansion according to local conditions;(3)adhere to innovation-driven development and promote continuous optimization of urban industrial structure.May be the innovation of this paper lies in:(1)Using Python programming language to do data mining for 100 text articles in china CNKI with the theme of "evaluation of economic development quality" from 2008 to 2020,statistics all the literature of economic development in the quality evaluation index system in metric names and frequency,and combining the relevant economic theory,selected the highest occurrence frequency indicators,per capita GDP,as a proxy indicator of economic development quality,in this article,try our best to do it on the basis of predecessors' research for this article index variables;(2)from the perspective of per capita output,a mathematical model of urban sprawl affecting the quality of regional economic development is constructed,in an attempt to provide a reasonable theoretical basis for empirical research.Meanwhile,based on some negative effects of urban spatial extension,the mechanism of urban sprawl affecting the quality of regional economic development is discussed.(3)abandoning the traditional artificial calculation to obtain the urban sprawl index,more objective satellite light data is adopted to measure the urban sprawl,and the robustness of the regression results of the benchmark model is tested by subdividing samples and instrumental variable method,which enhances the credibility and persuasiveness of the conclusion.
