In recent years, during the process of continuous urban expansion, cities have also suffered by many things such as sudden natural disasters, terrorist attacks and SARS or other infectious diseases.According to relevant statistics, the direct economic loss caused by natural disasters nationwide in 2019 alone amounted to3270.9 billion yuan.As a region with high vulnerability to ecological environment, the five provinces in northwest China can be frequently hit by natural disasters and production accidents.Studying the influencing factors of urban resilience in northwest China is helpful to clarify the specific factors that weaken urban resilience in the process of urban development,so as to establish reference baseline of urban resilience and improve corresponding policies to promote urban resilience development according to the actual situation of cities in northwest China. This study is mainly divided into four parts: theoretical review, calculation of urban resilience value, empirical analysis of influencing factors, and conclusions and suggestions.Firstly, based on the related researches at home and abroad, this paper discusses the concept evolution of resilience theory, development stages and evaluation method of urban resilience.Secondly, according to the conceptual characteristics and the availability of urban resilience data,an index system was established to measure the urban resilience of 30 cities in northwest China from 2008 to 2017,and entropy method was used to determine weights to measure the overall urban resilience, urban resilience in different fields(economy, society, ecology, engineering)and urban resilience in different stages respectively. Then, based on the specific influencing mechanism of urban resilience in northwest China,a suitable spatial econometric model was selected to quantitatively analyze the influencing factors of urban resilience. Here,we used the measured urban resilience value as the explained variable and population density, administrative force and other factors as the explanatory variables.Based on the analysis of the measurement and influencing factors of urban resilience in northwest China, the main conclusions of this paper are as follows:The overall resilience of the30 cities studied all had improvements in different degrees from 2008 to 2017,and the provincial capital cities performed better in terms of resilience level and growth rate. There is a significant positive spatial spillover effect of urban resilience in northwest China, and the improvement of urban resilience will promote the enhancement of the resilience of surrounding cities. In the explanatory variables,in addition to the positive effect of market power on urban resilience, administrative power and innovation power have not shown positive effect yet on urban resilience, while population density has no significant effect.
