Research On The Influence Of Social Capital On Regional Economic Gap

Since the reform and opening up,China's economy has made remarkable achievements all over the world,and the economy of different regions has also made great progress.However,with the implementation of the policy of giving priority to the unbalanced development of local regions in China,the economic gap between regions in China continues to expand,which is not only reflected in the widening gap between the eastern coastal areas and the central and western regions,but also the economic gap within each region is widening day by day.Traditional studies attribute regional economic disparities to the influence of geographical location,resource endowment,government policies and structural changes,but the differences in ideology,traditional culture,moral norms and other social capital related thereto are also important factors that cause regional economic development differences.When social capital was proposed as a new form of capital,it attracted the attention of experts and scholars,who expected to apply the theory of social capital to solve the macro-economic and micro-economic problems in the economic society.With the continuous enrichment of social capital theories,although experts and scholars in different research fields have different views on the definition of social capital,there are certain similarities among these definitions,which all contain abstract elements such as network,norms and trust.At present,most studies on social capital focus on the relationship between social capital and regional economic growth,and few people pay attention to the impact of social capital on regional economic gap.Based on this background,studying the influence of social capital on regional economic gap is of great theoretical and practical significance for coordinating regional economic development and maintaining sustainable and healthy economic development.First,this paper reviews previous literature research in related fields,expounds the concept of social capital and the measurement method of social capital,and sorts out the existing research results at home and abroad.Secondly,through theoretical analysis of relevant studies,the mechanism of social capital's influence on regional economic gap is clarified,providing theoretical support for the development of research issues.Thirdly,the panel data of relevant provinces and cities in China from 2009 to 2018 are used to investigate the status quo of China's social capital and regional economic gap.Finally,a fixed effect model of the influence of social capital on regional economic gap is constructed,and the influence of social capital on regional economic gap is empirically analyzed,and the influence of the development and change of social capital on regional economic gap from 2009 to 2018 is analyzed from both the overall and regional levels.The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)From the two aspects of social network and social norms to select measurement indicators,in terms of time,China's social capital level shows a rising trend,regional social capital difference is significant;In space,social capital presents a ladder distribution from east to west.(2)The Thiel index method is adopted to measure the regional economic gap in China.On the whole,the regional economic gap in China shows a downward trend year by year.The economic development gap between eastern and Western regions is obvious,which shows the characteristic of spatial agglomeration.(3)On the whole,the development of social capital is conducive to narrowing the economic gap between different regions in China and plays a promoting role in the balanced and healthy development of regional economy.Specifically,the development of social network has a more significant impact on the regional economic gap,while social norms have no significant impact on reducing the economic gap between different regions.(4)By region,social network is significant to narrow the gap between east and West,while social norms are not significant to the three regions.Based on the above research conclusions,this paper puts forward targeted policy recommendations.In the aspect of social network,the establishment of social network platform,fully mobilize the enthusiasm of social network individuals to participate in social and economic construction.In terms of social norms,we should ease the excessive constraint of social norms.We will give full play to the guiding role of government policies and promote the active and coordinated development of all regions.
