Abstract/Summary:
Gas pressure regulators are widely used in both commercial and residential applications to control the operational pressure of the gas. In this thesis the manual valve is changed to be pressure regulator. A Mathematical model of this ball valve is developed by using the Resistor--Capacitor (RC) circuit equations. The closed loop system designed to be stable by finding the suitable Proportional-Integral controller (PI) gains. The experiment is done by choosing the actuator (servo) to keep pressure on the portable air tank at 30 Pound-force per Square Inch Gauge (PSIG). The differences between the PI gains for the mathematical and experimental model associated strongly with the pneumatic capacitance and the resistance values of the system.
