Intercultural communicative competences are essential in language learning and an integral part of all available curricula for German as a Foreign Language in Manitoba. A survey among the German teachers as well as representative interviews show that intercultural communicative competences often are considered to be of great importance in theory, however, they are not integrated into German language classes to the same degree. Therefore, the success of the German language program in Manitoba depends on sensitizing teachers as well as reforming and modernizing the program to include competence assessment and quality assurance with regard to impartation of intercultural content. |
