Taller Puertorriqueno is able to move liberally between ethnic categories unto which the community has been assigned because of their Latino heritage. Since there is a fusing of ethnicities within the Puerto Rican Community, Taller uses art to amplify this fluidity and this ability to shift, permitting social and cultural mobility as well as freedom of artistic expression, assisting and bringing attention to social issues and expectations of Latinos in North Philadelphia. The tension that is exhibited throughout the community in regard to boundary maintenance is necessary in order to open up space, reliving and reassigning their history through art.
