Abstract/Summary:
This thesis is about experiencing architecture as an expression of archetypes through phenomenology. It attempts to pull archetypes out of the collective unconscious into conscious- experience through the transformation of myths and symbols into physically expressible modes such as light, color and texture. The built expression of this idea, located at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, takes the form of four spiritual rooms, which welcomes visitors of all faiths. Through intuitive transformations, interpretations and representations, the final built form aims to speak to its users in a language common to all faiths and cultures, creating spaces of spirituality.
