Although Broch's literature seems hermetic at first, it opens itself to the reader in the dynamic triangle of search, knowledge, and salvation. In these novellas, platonic allegories, gnostic thought patterns, and psychoanalytical motives are intricately intertwined. They create a rich mythical tapestry in which Broch essentially suspends time through his particular narrative style.
