Abstract/Summary:
There is information currently available indicating some of the harassment experienced by the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community. There is also information available indicating what works to lower a school's incident number of such harassment. This study sought to find out what issues and concerns students of today deal with when it comes to the GLBT community, what services do schools provide to GLBT students, and if there are any downfalls of having services for this particular community. The data I gathered from surveys during my travels, along with literature I examined, clearly implies that schools are not providing adequate support for this minority group even though studies show that clubs and organizations lower the levels of harassment towards the GLBT community.
