Abstract/Summary:
We are all leaders in life. How effectively we lead depends on our self-awareness, our ability to maintain a positive mindset and the degree of connection we forge with others. The goal of this research was to gain insight into how to foster a more positive work environment for all of our administrative staff. My initial focus was on the leader's responsibility for effecting such an environment. As I moved forward through my research and the subsequent literature review, I realized that leadership does not fall to one person alone: We are all responsible. Gandhi's famous words, "Be the change you want to see in the world" suggests that we have the power to inspire others to adopt a more positive way of being. I hope that this thesis will provide the reader with some food for thought on the relationship that exists between a positive disposition and effective leadership.
