Abstract/Summary:
Since the time of Florence Nightingale, nurses have expressed the belief that our approach in the delivery of health care is holistic. There have been numerous articles and books written suggesting the efficacy of incorporating spirituality in medicine and counseling (Curtis & Glass, 2002).; The nursing profession is striving to learn how to effectively address such a complex and diverse an issue as meeting the spiritual needs of clients (Hemingway, 2000). Individual perceptions of spirituality are as different as each human being.; The focus of this project was to outline the steps needed to develop a business that would offer services to address the spiritual needs of clients. This project focused on the development of a business plan for an entrepreneurial Christian based business. The mission of this business endeavor is to teach and empower both the lay community and health care professionals how to apply the Christian faith and doctrine to physical, mental and spiritual health care issues for recovery and living a well-balanced life.; This project briefly reviews the definitions of spirituality and religion. It provides a literature review that supports the premise that health care providers must take an active role in supporting client recovery via biophysical, psychological, and spiritual support and intervention. This project provides an outline of the steps required to start such a business.
