Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this abstract is to summarize the contents, in brief, of my thesis.; I begin my thesis with an introduction of the technical aspects of the production of the pottery that comprised my final project. I explain these aspects in detail. Next I explain my personal aesthetic preferences for the more subdued rather than the garish look of such forms of pottery as the "Funk." The next segment of my thesis covers the symbols that were utilized to embellish the covered jars and platters that were made and which constituted my final project. The final portion of my thesis deals with the previous work that I did in the MALS program in preparation for my final project. For instance the pottery in my final project was glazed with glazes that were developed in a previous course of the program. Included are five photographs of pottery that I made.
